New Brunswick RCMP say two children who were the subject of an AMBER Alert on Tuesday evening have been located safe.
The alert was issued around 10:20 p.m. after Mounties said a three-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy had been abducted.
Police said the two children had last been seen in Napan, near Miramichi, at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. Mounties also released a description of a suspect vehicle.
But less than an hour after the AMBER Alert was issued, police said they had located the children.
“The Amber Alert is now concluded. We will share more information when we are able to. We would like to thank the public for their assistance,” the RCMP said in a Facebook post at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the New Brunswick RCMP’s website, an AMBER Alert is issued when the following four criteria are met:
- Police have confirmed that an abduction has taken place.
- The victim is a child, or of proven physical or mental disability.
- There is reason to believe the victim is in danger of serious physical injury.
- There is information available that, if broadcast to the public, could assist in the safe recovery of the victim.
