The province of Nova Scotia reported 581 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
An outbreak has been reported at a ward at the Halifax Infirmary site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre.
Less than five patients are currently impacted and all patients are being closely monitored with other infection prevention and control measures being established.
On Boxing Day, provincial labs completed more than 4800 tests.
Due to a spike in testing and positive cases, public health is experiencing delays in follow-up.
They recommend all cases contact their close contacts.
Contact tracing in long-term care, healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, shelters and other group settings is being prioritized.
