Fredericton Shooting Victim Dies

A shooting in Fredericton earlier in December has turned into a homicide investigation.

Police say the victim, who was taken to hospital in critical condition, has since died.

He has been identified by police as 41-year-old Corey Markey.

Officers responded to Paul Street on the city’s north side just after 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 21.

It is believed the suspect or suspects fled in a vehicle before officers arrived. Investigators do not believe the shooting was random.

Anyone with information about the shooting or any suspicious activity in the area of Paul Street in the overnight hours of Dec. 20 to 21 is asked to contact the Fredericton Police Force or Crime Stoppers.
