Gender Equality Projects Get Federal Cash Boost

Millions of dollars are being invested into gender equality in Indigenous communities.

The federal government is putting more than $14 million into communities across Canada to support Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and all LBGTQQIA+ Indigenous people.

The projects will support economic participation, increase leadership skills, as well as prevent and eliminate gender-based violence. The money will also help to enhance projects that focus on reconciliation and more.

Of the 34 projects, the Indigenous Women’s Association of the Maliseet and Mi’kmaq Territories Inc. in Fredericton is getting nearly $500,000 for their project ” Wabanaki Women’s Traditional Leadership: Disrupting Systemic Racism in New Brunswick”.
