N.B. Reports Six Deaths; Hospitalizations Hold Steady

Another six New Brunswickers who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

According to the COVID-19 dashboard, four people in their 70s, one each from the Moncton and Miramichi regions, as well as two from the Fredericton region have died. Additionally, a person in the 90 and over age group from the Saint John zone, and a person in their 80s from the Edmundston area have passed away.

New Brunswick’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 269.

COVID-19 linked hospitalizations hold steady at 151, consisting of 70 patients who were admitted for COVID-19 and 81 who contracted the virus after being admitted.

Of those in hospital, 17 patients are in intensive care, and there are currently eight people on a ventilator.

There are 325 health care workers who are isolating due to exposure to COVID-19 in the two health authorities, Extra Mural program and Ambulance New Brunswick.

Through PCR tests, Public Health has confirmed 259 new cases of COVID-19, while an additional 643 positive rapid tests have been reported.

As a result of vaccination efforts, 92.4 per cent of eligible residents have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 85.5 per cent have two doses, and 46.6 per cent rolled up their sleeves for a third jab.
