Shannex To Build Two Nursing Homes In Moncton And Fredericton

The province will add 120 long term care nursing home beds within the next two years.

Shannex plans to build new facilities in Moncton and Fredericton.

They currently operate facilities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

The new home in Moncton will have 60 beds, and will be located behind the Northwest Plaza between Worthington Avenue and Mountain Road.

It is expected to be open by November of next year.

“With these new facilities, plus other recent nursing home announcements, we are making important progress in implementing the five-year nursing home plan, which aims to create 600 nursing home beds in the coming years to better respond to our aging population,” said Social Development Minister Bruce Fitch.

There are currently 71 licensed nursing homes across New Brunswick that provide 4,953 beds. The government plans to increase this to 80 licensed nursing homes in the coming years.
