New Chief Named For KV Fire Department

A familiar name has taken over the helm of the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department.

Mike Boyle has been promoted to fire chief of the department, which serves Quispamsis and Rothesay.

The announcement was made during Monday night’s town council meeting in Rothesay.

“Brings 20 years of experience with him and is very qualified for the position and was hired within,” said Coun. Peter Lewis, who is a member of the KV Fire Board.

Most recently, Boyle served as one of two division chiefs for the fire department.

Boyle is replacing Bill Ireland, who retired earlier this year after more than a decade at the helm.

Lewis also announced that Division Chief Shawn White has been promoted to deputy chief.

“We did have a deputy chief retiring, in probably June of this year, so we did hire a deputy chief also,” he said.

Boyle and White began their new roles on Monday, March 14.
