During that search, officers found a large collection of First and Second World War items including a machine gun, grenades, mortar, spent artillery shells, other firearms, helmets, and uniforms, including Nazi SS uniforms.

The Royal Canadian Navy’s Fleet Diving Unit Atlantic was called to dispose of 60 explosives.

Officers arrested an unnamed 55-year-old Mineville man.

He’s charged with possession of a prohibited device and possession of a prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized.

The man is set to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 17.
