A two-vehicle crash near Coles Island has claimed the life of a 59-year-old man from Rogersville.
RCMP say the collision happened along Route 10 in Long Creek shortly before noon on Tuesday.
“Police believe the collision occurred when the driver of the SUV traveling northbound attempted to pass a vehicle and collided with a dump truck traveling southbound,” Mounties said in a news release Wednesday.
The driver and lone occupant of the SUV died at the scene from his injuries.
Police say the driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened, adding an autopsy will be done to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
