Moncton Man Sentenced For Child Porn Related Charges

A sentence of three-and-a-half years in prison for a Moncton man who pleaded guilty to possession of child porn.

Forty-three-year-old Philip Matthew Francis was sentenced this week.

An RCMP investigation was launched in 2020 after information was received from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.

Police searched a Westbrook Circle home in March last year, and seized several electronic devices.

Francis was arrested the same day.

He will also be on the National Sex Offender Registry for Life and be required to submit a DNA sample.

Once released, he will also have to abide by several conditions including not communicating with anyone under 16 years old.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force. The RCMP’s Digital Forensics Services Unit, the Codiac Regional RCMP and the RCMP National Child Exploitation Crime Centre assisted with the investigation.
