Rothesay Council Approves 2 New Developments

Two multi-unit residential developments proposed in Rothesay have been given final approval from council.

The first project is a four-storey, 36-unit building on Woodland Avenue near the intersection with Hampton Road.

A controversial requirement to connect the two streets was removed from the proposal after concerns from nearby residents.

Instead, council has approved, in principle, extending Woodland Avenue past the site and constructing a curbed cul-de-sac with a restricted access point for first responders.

Access would be restricted through retractable bollards that would be controlled by the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department.

Council has also approved a four-storey, 43-unit mixed-use building along Hampton Road between Sierra Avenue and Oakville Lane.

The development, which is being undertaken by Propertystar, would also have ground-floor commercial space, with early plans showing as many as five businesses.

Councillors were awaiting a detailed landscaping plan from the developer showing where berms, trees and shrubs will be located.
