UPDATE: Former Sea Dogs Sign AHL Contracts

Two former members of the Saint John Sea Dogs have signed one-year contracts with American Hockey League (AHL) teams.

Forward Riley Bezeau has inked a deal with the Charlotte Checkers in North Carolina, the top minor league affiliate of the Florida Panthers.

The 20-year-old finished his junior hockey career with 38 points in 93 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games with the Sea Dogs.

During the last season, he scored 27 points in 56 contests and four points in five post-season games, in addition to serving as an alternate captain during the 2022 Memorial Cup.

An undrafted native of New Brunswick, Bezeau is currently attending Florida’s Development Camp.

Meanwhile, forward Ryan Francis has signed a one-year contract with the Laval Rocket in Quebec, an affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.

Francis, 20, recorded 25 goals and 40 assists in 54 regular-season games with the Sea Dogs this past season.

The Halifax-native also played four games with the Stockton Heat in the AHL.
