$241K For Huntsman Marine Science Centre

The Huntsman Marine Science Centre is getting more than $241,000 from Ottawa.

The money announced this week comes from the federal government’s Tourism Relief Fund.

It will be used to install a new HVAC system and upgrade exhibits at the Saint Andrews facility.

“Investments from the Tourism Relief Fund will prepare the Huntsman to meet our long-term objectives by increasing activities across our campuses and expanding the months of operation in our Fundy Discovery Aquarium,” Paul Leger, chair of the centre’s board of directors, said in a statement.

Ginette Petitpas Taylor is the minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Taylor said the support will help the centre prepare for the future and attract new clients.

“This is an important step in the recovery effort that will allow visitors to discover the world-class tourism experiences Atlantic Canada has to offer,” Taylor said in the statement.

The Huntsman Marine Science Centre is a research and science-based teaching institution that encourages interaction between scientists and industry.
