Crosswalks Vandalized In Grand Bay-Westfield: Town

Two crosswalks in Grand Bay-Westfield have recently been vandalized with tire skid marks, according to the town.

Officials with the town confirmed the vandalism in a news release issued on Monday morning.

It said the crosswalk in honour of Truth and Reconciliation on Woolastook Drive was impacted, along with the rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of River Valley Drive and Epworth Park Road.

“The vandalism to these crosswalks is unacceptable, and does not reflect the wider Grand Bay-Westfield community,” Mayor Brittany Merrifield said in the news release.

“We are a diverse and inclusive community that remains committed to the town’s vision of a welcoming place to live, grow and thrive – for everyone.”

Town staff said they have contacted the RCMP and are working to remove the tire skid marks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
