Man Found In Medical Distress In Police Custody Dies

A man found in medical distress while in Codiac Regional RCMP custody last weekend has died.

New Brunswick RCMP confirmed the man’s death in a news release late Friday afternoon.

“Support services have been offered to the members involved in the incident,” said the release.

Mounties say officers responded to a disturbance call on Evergreen Drive in Moncton around 11 p.m. Saturday.

After arriving at the scene, police encountered a man who they say was taken into custody without incident.

“Approximately four hours later, the individual was found to be in medical distress,” said the RCMP.

No other details about the individual have been released, and Mounties say no further information will be released at this time.

Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team has been asked to review the actions of the police.
