Two-Vehicle Crash Leaves Ontario Woman Dead

Police say a 79-year-old Ontario woman is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Berry Mills, near Moncton.

Officers responded to the crash on Route 128 between Route 2 and Horsman Road around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mounties say they believe the collision occurred when a vehicle in the westbound lane crossed the centre line and struck the second vehicle head-on.

“A passenger of the first vehicle, a 79-year-old woman from St. Thomas, Ontario, died at the scene as a result of her injuries,” reads a news release from Caledonia Region RCMP.

“The driver was transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non life-threatening injuries.”

The autopsy will determine the woman’s exact cause of death.

An investigation involving an RCMP collision reconstructionist and the New Brunswick Coroner’s office is ongoing.
