Hundreds Without Power As Storm Hammers N.B.

The latest winter storm to hit New Brunswick has left hundreds without electricity.

NB Power reported 1,074 customers affected by unplanned outages as of 3:20 p.m. Thursday.

Most of the affected homes and businesses — more than 490 of them — were in the Charlotte/Southwest region.

Other regions affected by power outages included:

  • Moncton/Riverview/Dieppe: 265 customers
  • Victoria/Madawaska: 144 customers
  • Carleton: 80 customers
  • Shediac/Cap-Pelé: 72 customers
  • Kings/Queens: 14 customers
  • Sackville/Port Elgin: 3 customers
  • Northumberland/Miramichi: 2 customers

Most customers are expected to have their power restored by early Thursday evening, the utility said.

Meanwhile, Saint John Energy was dealing with an outage in the north end and Millidgeville, but said all customers had been reconnected to the grid as of 3:25 p.m. Thursday.
