UPDATED: No injuries after bomb threat at Minto school

A bomb threat forced the evacuation of Minto Elementary and Middle School on Friday, according to officials.

Public Safety Minister Kris Austin, who is also the local MLA, posted about the threat on Facebook.

“All children are in good hands with no threat to their safety,” Austin said in the Friday morning post.

RCMP confirmed they were responding to a “police operation” on Cedar Street, which is where the school is located.

“School officials have evacuated the school as a precaution,” New Brunswick RCMP said in a tweet shortly after 10 a.m. Friday.

Around 12:20 p.m. Friday, police said their police operation had concluded and no one was hurt.

Jennifer Read, spokesperson for the Anglophone West School District, said the school had an early dismissal at noon.

“Families were contacted to ensure a safe arrival for their child at their destination,” Read said in an email.
