Majority of Canadians not excited about King Charles III: survey

The coronation for King Charles III is about to be celebrated in Canada but most of us aren’t too excited.

According to a new survey by the Angus Reid Institute, King Charles just doesn’t have the same popularity with Canadians as Queen Elizabeth.

Nearly 90% of us say it time to cut ties with the monarchy, as about half of Canadians feel he won’t be as good as the Queen.

Viewed much more favorably are Prince William and Princess Kate from those who feel Canada should continue as a constitutional monarchy.

Canadians who were born in a Commonwealth country are more likely to support swearing an oath to the King by singing “God Save the King” at official ceremonies and putting his face on our currency. Support for that however, is still split.

About 2 in 5 of Canadians say they don’t care about the coronation with only 9% saying it’s the biggest event of the year.
