$513K for Saint John active transportation project

More than $513,000 in federal funding has been announced for an active transportation project in Saint John.

Coastal Link Trail plans to repurpose more than four kilometres of former New Brunswick Railway lands along the Spruce Lake shoreline.

Their goal is to connect it to new bike lanes along Ocean Westway, creating a balanced active transportation network for cyclists and pedestrians.

The total price tag of the work is just over $1 million, according to background information from the federal government.

Coastal Link Trail is contributing nearly $153,000, Trans Canada Trail is covering $125,000, and the remaining $217,000 will come from the provincial government.
