A number of events are taking place in Saint John on Thursday to mark Loyalist Day.
It is the 240th anniversary since the Loyalists landed in the Port City back in 1783.
Thursday also marks 238 years since Saint John became Canada’s first incorporated city.
The United Empire Loyalists’ Association of Canada – NB Branch has planned a number of events.
There will be a special proclamation featuring a town crier at Saint John City Hall at 10 a.m.
It will be followed by a Loyalist flag-raising ceremony accompanied by period re-enactors from DeLancey’s Brigade.
At 11 a.m., historian David Goss will lead a Loyalist Walk through Saint John, leaving from Stone Church.
That will be followed by a piano serenade featuring period music at the church beginning at 12:15 p.m.
On top of that, Loyalist House on Union Street will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.
