Hope is to rebuild after St. Martins fire

No word yet on what caused a fire that destroyed one of two gas stations and several other businesses in the community of St. Martins.

The fire broke out on Main Street on Saturday morning.

A statement from Irving Oil on social media offered its thanks for the hard work and dedication of the local fire departments and first responders who safely contained the blaze.

Gallaghers Pizza, Rite Stop and a bakery were also destroyed.

The social media post also says it will be working with the owner to figure out a way of continuing to serve customers at that location.

The hope from Mayor Jim Bedford is that the businesses can rebuild.
