Police arrest man for motor vehicle theft

Saint John police say they have made an arrest in a stolen vehicle investigation.

Officers responded to a City Road address over the noon hour on Wednesday.

“The vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a parking lot while the owner was at work,” police said in a news release on Thursday.

Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, an officer patrol spotted the vehicle in an underground parking lot on Prince Edward Street.

“A 46-year-old man was found asleep inside the vehicle and he was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle,” police said in the release.

The accused was later released from custody and has a court date in late September.
