UPDATE: 3 local swimming areas reopen to the public

Good news for those looking to take a dip at three popular swimming areas in the Saint John area.

Officials say the water is once again safe at Lily Lake and Tucker Park in Saint John and at Gondola Point Beach in Quispamsis.

All three swimming areas had been closed since Thursday due to bacteria concerns.

Officials said recent testing by Public Health showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria.

Warning signs were posted at all three locations to make visitors aware.

Lifeguards also remained at Lily Lake to warn the public and ensure visitor safety.
