RCMP Police Dog Services team helps save man lost in woods

Quick work by an RCMP police dog helped to save an elderly man.

On July 10th, RCMP Police Dog Services were called in after reports of an elderly man in mental distress lost in the woods in Irishtown.

It was around 9:30 pm when officers began their search.

At around 10:30 am the next morning, Corporal Jonathan Moreau and police service dog Nykko located the man near a trail deep in the trees.

First aid was provided while they awaited the paramedics. Ground Search and Rescue also assisted with the search.

“The outcome of this incident could have been much different if resources were not deployed as quickly. This incident is a perfect example of how vital our police dogs are in situations like this when we need to locate someone quickly to ensure their safety,” says RCMP Corporal Kevin Glode.
