Trudeau announces increase to CCB

The Canada Child Benefit is going up.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it will help lower income families with the high cost of living.

“It’s increasing by 6.3%, which means for an average family making about $65,000 a year with two kids, that’s an extra $1,000 this year that going to help out with the cost of living,” Trudeau announced at a stop in Kingston, Ontario Thursday morning.

Trudeau adds the Canadian Child Benefit has been working as planned.

“Seven years ago we brought in the Canada Child Benefit. It has lifted over a half a million kids out of poverty. It has impacted families from coast, to coast, to coast with hundreds of dollars, tax free, every single month, to help with the high cost of raising kids.”
