Next local government byelections to take place this fall

The next local government byelections will be held this coming fall on October 23.

In a recent news release, Elections New Brunswick said they now have the necessary documents to call byelections for 12 vacancies in nine local governments.

The nine local governments are as follows:

  • Beaurivage: one councillor, Ward 2 and one councillor, Ward 6
  • Grand Lake: one councillor, Ward 4
  • Grand Manan: two councillors-at-large
  • Hanwell: one councillor, Ward 4
  • Neguac: one councillor-at-large
  • Southern Victoria: one councillor, Ward 2
  • Sunbury-York South: one councillor, Ward 1
  • Tracy: two councillors-at-large
  • Upper Miramichi: one councillor, Ward 1

The deadline for local governments to notify Elections NB of any additional council vacancies is Friday, Sept. 8.

Nominations will begin on Monday, Sept. 18, and end at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29.
