Stop using some power bars in Energy Efficiency Kits

A heads up to New Brunswickers who received a free Energy Efficiency Kit from NB Power.

Anyone who received a white and green power bar in their kit is asked to stop using it immediately.

NB Power says the precautionary move comes after they received reports of power bars that are damaged.

This impacts customers who received a kit from the Renter Energy Savings Kit Program and the Community Outreach Program.

“Safety is our top priority at NB Power and the manufacturer is conducting a thorough investigation on the damaged power bars to determine the cause,” the utility said in a social media post.

So far, NB Power said it has been made aware of four instances of damaged power bars.

Officials said there are currently no concerns with the black power bars that were distributed in the kits.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact NB Power at 1-800-663-6272.
