Teen seriously hurt after dirt bike, SUV collide

Police say a 15-year-old suffered serious injuries after their dirt bike collided with a vehicle in Saint John.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Bentley Street around 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

“It was alleged that an off-road dirt bike had been travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Douglas Avenue and collided with an SUV turning left off Bentley Street onto Douglas Avenue,” Staff Sgt. Sean Rocca said in an email.

Rocca said the lone rider was thrown from the dirt bike and rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV did not suffer any physical injuries in the crash.

Rocca said the collision remains under investigation.
