Garbage bag limits returning in Saint John

Saint John residents will have to start using bag tags again for any excess trash.

The requirement was temporarily suspended due to garbage collection delays caused by recent strike action.

But with the strike over and solid waste collection back at full capacity, regular garbage collection requirements will resume on Monday.

“As part of regular collection requirements, garbage bag limits will be back in place,” the city said in a news release on Wednesday.

Any garbage bags in excess of what fits in garbage carts, or that do not have urban bag tags attached to them, need to be placed curbside with an excess refuse bag tag on them.

The $2 bag tags are available for purchase at locations across the city, including City Hall.

You can find more details through the city’s website.
