Small fire at Sussex Regional High School

No injuries have been reported after a small fire on Wednesday morning at Sussex Regional High School.

In an email sent to parents, the district said the fire started on the roof of the building during maintenance.

Staff and students at the school were evacuated to an off-site location following the fire.

“Due to the smell of smoke in the building, school will be dismissed for the day,” said the email.

In a post on its website at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday, the district said the school was closed due to “roof maintenance issues.”
