49 displaced after roof blows off Saint John building

Dozens have been displaced from a building in Saint John’s south end following Monday’s storm.

Officials responded to an apartment building on Britain Street after part of its roof blew off in high winds.

The Canadian Red Cross confirmed Tuesday that it is assisting 49 tenants who were living there.

“The Red Cross is supporting with lodging, food, transportation and is providing items for immediate needs such as clothing and personal items,” spokesperson Kirsten Long said in an email.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
