Federal government to table budget on April 16

The federal government has announced that it will be tabling its 2024 budget on April 16.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who has been leading the budget development, says it will focus on “building more homes, faster, making life more affordable, and creating more good jobs.”

In Freeland’s fall economic statement, the deputy prime minister projected a budget deficit of $38.4 billion for the upcoming year, however, those numbers were based on projections that could have altered in the months since.

The budget is slated to be released at around 4 p.m. Eastern Time on April 16.
