Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant arrested in Moncton

Saint John police say a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested in Moncton.

The 33-year-old man was taken into custody in Moncton on Thursday, police said in an update on Monday.

An arrest warrant was issued for the man on March 7 for allegedly violating the conditions of his statutory release.

Police said the man had been released from an institution in Quebec but failed to report to a community correctional centre in Saint John.

The accused is serving a sentence of more than four years and six months for discharging a restricted/prohibited firearm with intent and possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
