It looks like New Brunswick drivers will get a bit of a break at the fuel pumps this week.
An industry source says gasoline prices will fall by around two cents per litre on Thursday night.
Diesel users will see a slighter larger break, with the maximum price expected to drop more than three cents.
However, the drop will not last long with the federal carbon tax increase set to take effect on Monday.
It will add more than three cents to a litre of gasoline and four cents to a litre of diesel.
Currently, New Brunswickers are paying a maximum of $1.73 per litre for regular self-serve, $1.90 per litre for diesel, and $1.63 per litre for home heating oil.
In Nova Scotia, regular self-serve ranges from $1.70 to $1.74 per litre while diesel is selling for between $1.90 and $1.94 per litre.
On Prince Edward Island, the price for regular self-serve is around $1.70 per litre, diesel costs around $1.92 per litre, and home heating oil is selling for a maximum of $1.42 per litre.
The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board adjusts prices every Friday at 12:01 a.m.
