Sea Dogs eliminated from QMJHL playoffs

A first-round exit for the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League playoffs.

Saint John fell to the visiting Drummondville Voltigeurs 8-1 on Wednesday night.

The Voltigeurs swept the best-of-seven first-round series in four games.

The Sea Dogs had their work cut out for them heading into this year’s playoffs.

Saint John finished the regular season 16th in the league standings (20-39-5-4) while Drummondville was second (48-14-5-1).

Elsewhere in QMJHL playoff action, the Moncton Wildcats were also eliminated Wednesday night after falling to Chicoutimi 5-2 in game four.

Meanwhile, in what many describe as an upset, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan beat the Halifax Moosehead 3-2 to sweep the first-round series in four games.
