Storms leave major damage at Irving Nature Park

It was a rough winter for the popular Irving Nature Park in Saint John.

Strong winds, heavy rain, and pounding surf caused significant damage.

Officials said it was some of the most extreme weather in the park’s 30-year history.

J.D. Irving, Ltd., which operates the park, said staff are working to restore trails and remove dead and fallen trees.

They will also be replanting trees in certain areas of the nature park, according to a post on their social media page.

Officials said the park will be closed on weekdays for the time being while the work is completed.

There is no word yet on when the nature park will officially open for the season.
