Youths arrested after assault with chemical irritant

Two youths have been arrested after a man was allegedly assaulted with a chemical irritant in Saint John.

Police were called to the 500 block of Westmorland Road on the city’s east side around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A 19-year-old man, who police said was contaminated with a chemical irritant, was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers searched the area and arrested two youths in a nearby neighbourhood.

A 15-year-old was charged with breach of a court order. He was held and scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

The second youth, a 16-year-old, was released on an undertaking and is due in court in July.
