Sussex shoplifting incident leads police to drugs

A shoplifting incident in Sussex has led to a 31-year-old man being arrested for drug trafficking.

Mounties say they were called to shoplifting in progress at a business on Main Street around 2 p.m. Thursday.

“Individuals had entered the business and stole a number of items before leaving the scene,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

Officers located a suspect vehicle in a parking lot and arrested the three people inside.

Police said they also recovered stolen merchandise, as well as cash and suspected methamphetamine.

A man from The Glades was arrested for theft and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was released on conditions and a promise to appear in court in July.

Two women were also taken into custody but were later released.
