Parts of the country are bracing for potentially torrential downpours associated with Hurricane Beryl’s leftovers.
The storm made landfall in Texas on Monday as a Category 1 hurricane.
According to the Canadian Hurricane Centre, the remnants of Beryl are expected to track northeastward over the next few days, producing heavy rain in parts of Quebec and Ontario.
Environment Canada says the wet weather could affect southern Quebec beginning late in the day on Wednesday. Between 40 and 80 millimetres of rain is expected as well as moderate winds.
Southern Ontario could see 20 to 40 mm per hour at times with localized rainfall totals, possibly well in excess of 50 mm.
The national forecaster says rainfall warnings may be issued as confidence in the track of the system increases.
