N.B. firefighters head to Alberta

Alberta is getting help from our province to battle dozens of forest fires.

Sixteen firefighters from New Brunswick left for the prairie province on Wednesday.

They are joined by two division supervisors, three strike team leaders, and one agency rep.

The staff members are expected to be in Alberta for up to two weeks, the province said in a social media post.

More than 100 fires were burning throughout Alberta as of Friday morning, with 31 considered out of control.
