NB Power to host information session in Saint Andrews

Saint Andrews residents frustrated with recent power outages are taking their concerns directly to the utility.

NB Power is holding an information session at the W.C. O’Neill Arena Complex on Wednesday evening.

Mayor Brad Henderson said it is a chance to ask questions and learn about regional issues.

Residents will also gain insight into what NB Power is doing to address concerns, he said.

The meeting was sparked by a Canada Day outage that left thousands in the area without electricity for several hours.

Henderson said it was one of many outages the Saint Andrews area has experienced over the past year.

In a recent statement, NB Power said it recognizes that the recent power outages in the Saint Andrews community have been a major inconvenience.

“While many of the outages in recent months have been caused by wildlife, we are working to identify root causes and measures that we can put in place to help prevent this in the future,” said the statement.

The utility added that it is committed to improving reliability for customers and will meet with residents to discuss their concerns.

The information session will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
