Man charged with murder in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation shooting

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting that led to a manhunt.

The man from Maine appeared in court on Saturday and was charged with second-degree murder.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday morning, according to the RCMP.

Officers received a call from Esgenoôpetitj (Burnt Church) First Nation, northeast of Miramichi, on Thursday afternoon.
