New campaign teaches Gen Z financial responsibility

The Financial and Consumer Services Commission of New Brunswick has launched a video series aimed at the importance of using credit responsibly.

Gen Z, the youngest generation entering the workforce, represent a third of new credit consumers, according to TransUnion’s Consumer Credit Database.

Commission’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Marissa Sollows spoke to many young professionals in the province and noticed they are wanting to learn about finances but don’t know how to get started.

“Our campaign is designed to empower our younger generation to avoid common mistakes, such as misunderstanding interest rates or the consequences of missed payments,” Sollows said.

The Commission is offering practical tips to address the financial concerns of young New Brunswickers, such as student loans, credit card debt, and how to build a solid credit history.
