UPDATE: Convicted armed robber back in custody

A convicted armed robber wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been taken into custody, according to Saint John police.

Police said Thursday that the 26-year-old man was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday and remains in custody.

He was accused of breaching the conditions of his statutory release by failing to return to the community correctional centre in Saint John.

Police said the man was serving a sentence of four years, three months and 10 days on a variety of convictions, including:

  • armed robbery
  • disguise with intent
  • possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • uttering a threat to cause death/harm
  • assaulting a peace officer
  • escape or being at large without excuse (x2)
  • assault with a weapon
  • theft under $5,000
  • obstructing a public/peace officer
