New Year’s 2025: What’s open and closed in Greater Saint John

New Year’s Eve is nearly upon us and that means some holiday closures and changes in hours to be aware of.

Many businesses will be closing early on Tuesday so employees have the chance to ring in the new year.

All malls, big-box stores and most grocery stores will be closed for New Year’s Day on Wednesday.

Some drug stores and smaller grocery stores will be open, although their hours may vary.

NB Liquor and Cannabis NB stores will be closed, but agency liquor outlets may be open.

Banks, post offices and all government offices will also be closed and there will be no mail delivery.

Saint John Transit will run as normal on New Year’s Eve but will not be operating on New Year’s Day.

Garbage and compost collection in Saint John will operate on their regular schedule.

If you are unsure if something is open, it is best to call ahead.

Saint John will ring in 2025 with fireworks from Long Wharf. The show is set to begin at 8 p.m., weather permitting.
