Woman charged with robbing senior in Saint John

A woman has been charged after allegedly robbing a senior in uptown Saint John.

Police said the incident happened in the King Street area shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday.

A 74-year-old woman had withdrawn a “large sum” of money from an ATM when another woman assaulted her and stole her wallet.

Police said a woman matching the suspect’s description was located at a bar in the north end and arrested around 2:45 p.m.

A 43-year-old woman was charged with robbery during a court appearance on Monday.

She was remanded to jail and is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on Thursday.

Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening physical injuries during the robbery.
