Hickey Road should reopen Thursday after water main break

Much of Hickey Road in Saint John has reopened after a water main break on Wednesday.

The closure of the busy east side road extended from Bruce Lane to Simonds High School.

City officials said Thursday afternoon that crews are cleaning up the road, which should reopen later in the evening.

Water service has also been restored but a boil water order is in effect for some properties in the area.

“Anyone under a current boil water order have been informed through hand delivered notices.and anyone,” the city said in a social media post.

The water main break caused localized flooding on roads in the area.
