New Brunswickers invited to shape new tourism strategy

The provincial government is inviting New Brunswickers to participate in shaping a new tourism strategy that will impact the province for the next five years.

Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Isabelle Thériault has announced a new initiative called ‘Fresh Look’ which aims to revitalize New Brunswick’s tourism strategy. She explained this marks the first update since 2014.

“Our goal is to consult with the people, speak to stakeholders, and gather their comments on how we can support our industry with new opportunities,” Thériault said.

The province will conduct a survey and a consultation tour to collect feedback. The five-year strategy, which is set to roll out in 2026, will be evidence-based and designed to deliver tangible results for the tourism sector.

“We’re starting the strategy right now because we want to make sure that we have targets and achieve our goals with evidence-based data, and to make sure that every region is included,” she said.

Thériault highlighted that the tourism industry contributes $2.5 billion to the province’s economy and creates 40,000 jobs.

She emphasized the need to incorporate feedback from all regions in order to develop a thorough and effective plan.

“We want to hear from New Brunswickers. Every individual has a role to play, and we are open to new ideas and collaboration,” Thériault said.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the survey available online until March 21 and attend consultation sessions in March and April.

The consultation process aims to identify challenges and opportunities, with a focus on innovative ways to showcase New Brunswick’s strengths.
