An Oak Bay man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after allegedly fleeing police in Charlotte County.
RCMP said they received a call about a dangerous driver in Oak Haven on the afternoon of April 25.
Officers located the vehicle but did not pursue it after it fled “at a very high speed and in a dangerous manner,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Air Services was deployed to the area, and community members provided updates to police about the vehicle’s location.
The vehicle was located in the Pleasant Ridge area just before midnight and was stopped at a cottage on Route 770 near Lee Settlement a short time later.
Police said a man fled the scene on foot but was arrested by officers at a nearby residence a short time later.
A 38-year-old man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday for a bail hearing.
